Community Chapel

Architectural design

The community chapel sits solitary within a clearing. It's curved walls are bathed in changing light throughout the day.

Both ends of the chapel are composed of discarded thin stone tiles that allow a degree of light into the interior giving it a unique and solemn quality.

The architecture is muted but naturally and generously lit through a band of clerestories and a central skylight that also houses bells. The curved walls serve as a canvas for light inside and out. The walls deny a view of the outside from within enhancing the solemn qualities of the space.
